Foods to Increase Semen Volume



Semen is released during ejaculation and the normal semen volume ranges from 2 to 5ml per ejaculate. Semen is an indication of your health status. It is the white fluid which comes from the urethra of the penis during ejaculation. Volume of ejaculate is not linked to sexual pleasure either for the male or the female. Ejaculation and orgasm is not prolonged if the penis takes longer to release the increased volume of the semen. A man with low semen volume may have physical conditions limiting his production or ejaculation ability. 

There are some foods which can help to increase semen volume. They are:

Meat- Meat contains various nutrients which are essential to semen production. Poultry, Tuna and red meats contain the amino acid which helps to produce semen. Oysters, lamb and lean red meats contain zinc which increases testosterone levels and body needs zinc to produce semen.


Grains- Granola and Oatmeal contain high amount of L-arginine and L-carnitine which may increase volume of semen ejaculated and increase sperm motility. Whole grain foods on your diet may provide you with enough zinc to increase your semen volume.

Water- Without water, nothing can function properly in the body and that is why you should drink a minimum 8 glass of water a day. Drinking less water leads to dehydration which cannot produce semen as it can when it is hydrated.

Fruits and vegetables- You should increase your consumption of leafy green vegetables such as spinach, okra, seaweed and broccoli. Broccoli, okra and citrus fruits provide you with folic acids which increase semen volume. Tomatoes, guava, watermelon and red bell peppers contains high amount of lycopine and it increases the thickness and volume of semen.

Goji Berries- Overheating is the primary culprit of low semen volume. You should take Goji Berries as these bright-red berries contain powerful antioxidants which improve circulation and keep temperature level in the male reproductive organs at an optimal level.


Dark Chocolate- This decadent dessert contains L-Arginine HCL which is a powerful amino acid and has been proven to double sperm and semen volume. But you should not take too much dark chocolate as excess weight can cause testosterone imbalance which can further reduce your semen volume.

Nuts- Nuts contain high amounts of zinc and vital amino acids. Nuts contain the nutrient selenium and eating one-quarter cup of nuts each day will give you well-balanced diet and increase semen volume.
